Access Requirements

Complete the following steps in order to access this website.

SKIP this step if you already have this app installed and have ‘Verified Identity’.

  1. Ensure you complete all setup steps in link below including step 5 ‘Verify Identity’
  2. The ‘Verify Identity’ step can take 1 – 2 days. Once completed, proceed to step 2.

Install the BC Wallet app on your phone

BC Wallet is a digital identity wallet. It lets you receive, store and present digital credential such as memberships, permits, and ID cards.

Get your Person Credential

A Person credential is a digital credential that holds verifiable information about you, that you can use to prove details about yourself online.

  1. Open BC Wallet app and follow the below steps or watch a video on how to setup your Person credential.

Get your Law Society of BC Lawyer Credential

A Lawyer Credential is the electronic equivalent of your physical member card. Store your digital Lawyer Credential on a digital identity wallet app on your phone.

Check your names match

Check if your names on your Lawyer Credential and Person credential match. If they do not match, you can still gain access to court materials online. Contact ASKACM@gov.bc.ca to request for a manual review of your credentials.

OR

Request a name change with the Law Society.

  1. Contact Registration@lsbc.org and submit government issued documentation such as a name change certificate or new photo ID for surname changes resulting from marriage or divorce.
  2. Once the name has been made, return to the Law Society of BC Member Portal and re-issue your Lawyer Credential so the new name is reflected on your ID.

How to enter using digital credentials

For secure access to court materials online, you'll need to prove your lawyer status using your Lawyer Credential AND your Person credential.

  1. On websites you can use digital credentials, you will see a QR code.
  2. On your mobile phone, open BC Wallet
  3. Tap the "Scan" button
  4. While holding your phone, position it close to the computer or laptop so the QR code appears in the digital viewfinder. Scan the QR code.
  5. Once the scan is successful, the app will automatically display a request for you to share information
  6. Review the requested information and tap "Share"
  7. You should get a return message that the proof was successful, and you will then be able to access the website's resources.
